Meet the Doctor

“ The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
Thomas A. Edison

“My own introduction to chiropractic started in much the same way as yours is about to begin," explains Dr. Travis.  "For years, I had suffered with back pain, neck pain, headaches and spinal related health problems.  I tried all of the pain pills, muscle relaxers, icy hot lotions and other “wonder drugs” that my medical doctors seemed eager to prescribe.  But instead of getting better, I often felt worse.  I came to the realization that all of these pharmaceuticals were actually making me sicker.  And on the rare occasion when I did feel better, I knew that the drugs were only masking the symptoms.  My body was being tricked by the medications to feel as if something had changed when it really hadn't!  Sound familiar?  My greatest pleasure is helping people like you discover what I learned when, out of desperation, I finally consulted a doctor of chiropractic.  I learned that the human body is not a machine that occasionally falls apart and needs to be tinkered with, using drugs and surgery to keep it going.  It is a self-healing and self-regulating organism that, if allowed to muster 100% of its self-healing power, can and will heal itself.  The state-of-the art chiropractic techniques and nutritional therapy we utilize in our office work to remove obstacles to healing and enable our patients to maintain their good health, once it has been restored.”

Dr. Travis is a 1986 magna cum laude graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic, where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree and where he interned at Pennsylvania College's community chiropractic clinic.  He also holds a BS degree cum laude from Boston University.

Dr. Travis opened his family practice in March of 1987 and has been serving the North Wilmington community ever since, providing the very finest chiropractic care to patients of all ages.  A diplomate of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Dr. Travis is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as the State of Delaware.  He is a member of the International Chiropractors Association and the Delaware Chiropractic Society.  He holds an Advanced Proficiency Rating (the highest level of certification) in Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique.  As a musician with over 40 years of professional experience, he has a particular interest in helping other musicians and performing artists recover from injury and maintain their health.

Dr. Travis is past-president of the Delaware Board of Chiropractic, to which he was appointed in 2007 by Governor Ruth Ann Minner and re-appointed to a second term in 2010 by Governor Jack Markell.

Dr. Travis was twice president of the Brandywine-Naamans Rotary Club.  He and his wife, Judy, who is the office manager, have taken leadership roles in many other community and charitable activities, most notably Stockings for Soldiers, which sews, stuffs and ships personalized Christmas stockings to our deployed troops.  Now in its fourteenth year, this project started by Judy in the Travis’ living room has grown to occupy a 6,000 sq. ft. storefront and, with the help of over 1,000 local volunteers, has sent over 86,000 stockings filled with 400,000 pounds of goodies to brighten the holidays of our brave soldiers serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world.  Please visit the website to learn how you can help:

Judy and Art have been married for over 43 years and have three accomplished and healthy (thanks to chiropractic!) grown children.
